What Is Vaping?

What Is Vaping?

Vaping is the process of inhaling vapour from a heated liquid. In terms of e-cigarettes, it is the process of heating a liquid that contains various ingredients, including nicotine and flavouring, and then inhaling that vapor for the purpose of getting the nicotine 'hit' that a smoker craves.

How does that differ to smoking a cigarette?

Well, when you inhale vapor, you are heating a substance to a high temperature, then only inhaling the vapor given off by that substance. When you smoke, you are not only inhaling the smoke, you are also inhaling the other chemicals and substances that are contained in the material you ignite. Vaping does not require any burning. You don't need a lighter or a match to ignite anything when you vape, so there is no combustion.

So Vaping Is Safe Then?

To say vaping is safe would be wrong. When you 'vape' you are still inhaling vapour and introducing moisture into your lungs. If an ex-smoker, now vaper, inhales as much as he did compared to when he was smoking traditional cigarettes, there is still going to be some form of harm. The difference, from what studies have shown up until late 2018, is that vaping is around 95% less harmful than smoking a cigarette. What we don't know at this stage, is the long term effects of vaping, because products, studies, and trials haven't been around long enough to measure the results. As time goes on we will learn more about the effects and become better informed. 

So Should I Make The Switch From Smoking To Vaping?

Based on all of the industry information and studies to date, vaping is being recommened by many as a way for cigarette smokers to break the habit, and the feedback we get from our customers is very positive. You should also do your own research if you want to know all of the facts. Search Google, read studies, talk to vapers, ask your doctor for his or her opinion, or visit various vape stores to gain insight and become as informed as possible so you are confident in making the right decision for yourself. The general opinion out there is that if you are a smoker, you will cause your body substantially less harm if you switch to vaping.
